Jan, 26th (Psalms 9,10,11)

David is praising God for His faithfulness and protection once more. As in other readings up to now we have read of Joshua and how God is faithful, until Joshua in some situations hasn't seeked God and makes decisions of his own will. We see Joshua repenting of his mistakes and God restores his people again. We read about this with Israel over and over again. And here it is plain to see as we read that David is seeking God for his decisions and praising him - even when apparently his enemies are still persecuting David (Psalm 9:13). Then as soon as we may say ... David has much more depth in his faith and trust in God than I could ever have ... we read where David is questioning God about His presence in Chapter 10. "Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?" To me, it brings the humanity of David back where I can identify - at this point David is see all the advances of the wicked and questions, Why? We find David praying for God's unmistakable presence to come back in Psalm 10:12-15 and he ends this chapter praying in the attitude of who he remembers God to be and the promises that are comforting. In the next chapter (11) I read a calm, collected, peaceful and comforted tone with David's prayer. No matter what is going on around him, he understands and realizes that God is present and in control.

Take heart - be comforted that when everything around you and me are dismal, God is still present and loves us and longs for us to seek Him and His will.
